Building a ThinkPad desktop replacment laptop

#1 Post by ThinkPad560X » Tue Nov 03, 2015 2:04 pm

Building a ThinkPad desktop replacment laptop, Much like the ThinkPad A Series and G Series.
I have a few old ThinkPad parts and bases. I was thinking of adding a ATX board into a old bottom ThinkPad base and then add a boxed top over it with a built in IBM USB travel keyboard for the ThinkPad look. after that maybe use a old LCD monitor from laptop if can find a way to connect the screen to the board or just use external monitor for now. The PSU not sure if they make a AC Adapter style. In the end it will look like a Thicker ThinkPad 380Z but with lots of upgrades to make with it. No battery as this will be the ThinkPad desktop replacement machine.

Can add a built in speaker, use SSD drive size, Use extend cable for graphics card.

This maybe a good project to make if anyone willing to do it. I think a ITX board maybe more appropriate
