Outlook.com email

#1 Post by Tim-ANC » Sat Nov 14, 2015 5:30 am

Anyone else get this email on their mircosoft email account?

Hello,
In the next few weeks we’ll be making some updates that will impact your @outlook.com, @hotmail, @live, or @msn email account. Those changes will prevent your email from getting delivered to the Outlook desktop application you use. When you notice that you stop receiving messages, simply follow these two steps:
For Outlook 2003 customers:
1. Remove your email account from your Outlook 2003 desktop application

2. Re-add your email account to your Outlook 2003 desktop application

For Outlook 2007 customers:
1. Remove your email account from your Outlook 2007 desktop application

2. Re-add your email account to your Outlook 2007 desktop application

For Outlook 2010 customers:
1. Remove your email account from your Outlook 2010 desktop application

2. Re-add your email account to your Outlook 2010 desktop application

When the update happens, you may not be able to refer back to this email in your Outlook desktop application. We recommend bookmarking or saving the two links (remove and re-add) in steps 1 and 2 above that apply to the version of Outlook you’re using. Remember, you can always access this message by logging into your account at http://www.outlook.com at any time.

If you don’t know what version of Outlook you have, you can click here for instructions to find out.

Thanks for your understanding and continued use.
Sincerely,
The Outlook team

They are changing the communication protocol that affects legacy MS Office versions prior 2013. In short, you can still access it, it just needs some settings changes.

This is great news as you can then actually configure your Outlook.com account as an Exchange mailbox instead of needing the Outlook Hotmail Connector or using the Exchange ActiveSync (EAS) protocol in Outlook.

Thanks. Thought it might have been spam. I guess it will still work on my BlackBerry just fine.

And all that will probably give Micro$haft, NSA and its ilk access to your 'old' emails, that were until now stored on your private PC/laptop.
More spying...

According to the link Thinkpadder posted, it will bring real Exchange Mail service to outlook.com on Outlook 2010 and earlier versions. Since I currently use 2010, looking forward to this.

As for the NSA, I am a tobacco chewing, assault rifle owning, Palin voting, alcohol stilling father of a son married to a Chinese national. Maybe they'll notice me now to satisfy my narcissism. :D
