On my Windows 10 Pro box, in the Advanced Settings of the Windows Firewall, there is an outgoing rule called "Connected User Experiences and Telemetry", defined as "Unified Outgoing Telemetry Client" that is set to Allow outgoing traffic by default on no specific port. It belongs to the DiagTrack Group.
I don't leave mine connected to the net any more than necessary, so whether setting it to Block will do any good at blocking said service I can't say, but I've set mine to block on Public, Private, and Domain Profiles and it hasn't caused problems for me yet. I did let it update today and it didn't prevent it from doing so.
I'm not so much concerned about MS "spying" on me as I am not having absolute control of my machine in regard to what is and is not installed on it, like Creators Update, or what traffic is and is not allowed to and from it.
I don't have a problem with my FreeBSD boxen sending back machine stats and what ports I have installed, but that's a choice left to me by decision to install bsdstats or not.

Is this complete exposure or partial after being compelled vigorously by the European Union?
Do I trust Microsoft completely? No I don't. YMMV

My point is I just have to trust someone. When the selection is Microsoft, Apple or Google, the winner is clear for me.

Excellent comment I noticed in that first link:
if they cut the Basic Level in half, what was in the other half they have been collecting up till now?
And what else do they rob you off if you are stupid enough to select Full Level?
Question:ahlam99 wrote: Fretting about how Windows 10 might impinge on your privacy whilst using a computer with Chrome installed to browse the Internet is like trying to hold an umbrella above your head to protect against the rain whilst you are being swept downriver in a raging torrent.

The Clean Hands Doctrine:Puppy wrote:My point is I just have to trust someone.
n. a rule of law that a person coming to court with a lawsuit or petition for a court order must be free from unfair conduct (have "clean hands" or not have done anything wrong) in regard to the subject matter of his/her claim.

Just make sure they're deserving of that trust, and be careful how much trust you put into them.

Microsoft / Google equates to Trump / Clinton LOL Differences are perception and spin only.
I would argue their trustworthiness is identical. Understand their core elements.

They are all dodgy in some way but the thing is people dont want to move to Unix so what can you do...

I use Google and Microsoft software on my computers but I realise that they would share my data with other agencies.
