IPS 10.4" LCD in Old Thinkpad???
I just saw these panels on eBay: NEC NL6448BC33-53.
According to panelook.com they are 640x480 SA-SFT Normally Black (IPS Family) with a contrast ratio of 500:1 and 380 CD/m^2. If you're thinking what I'm thinking, IPS 701C/755CD/*insert 10.4" thinkpad*. I know, I'm out of my mind.
If it wasn't 180$ per panel, I would totally try this. "Windows 95 never looked so crisp" -someone with money and is crazy enough to do this.
Any thoughts about this?

The efficiency of two screens equally sized with equal numbers if pixels are equal. The time spent by a 4:3 user complaining about 16:9 is proportional to the inefficiency working with a 16:9 display, therefore the amount of useful work extracted is equal.

We don't know if the connectors and/or signalling are compatible.
Addenum: found a datasheet for that NEC panel http://www.farnell.com/datasheets/68814.pdf

They look like ttl and panelook matches. Is all ttl 5v same?

Connectors look the same with exact 31 pins, the backlight wire has an extra lead, not sure if it'll work but pretty sure it'll plug right in. Don't know if it will 100% work but will likely plug in.
EDIT: Sharp LQ104V1DG81 is an updated version of the original 701c screen if the NEC IPS one doesn't end up working. Although I'm pretty sure it'll work, a lot of the minimum and maximum specs are the same, but the Vcc-dip looks much different.
