ironically the iconic IBM used to be just "Think"

Apple's new strategy reflects two things I would imagine...

1. there isnt that much huge innovation really, we are talking about very very mature technology

2. apple does not derive enough profit from this division to sink enough R&D into it

Apple has lost the jobs, therefore their r&d had lost their job.
