Does anyone know why IBM always had uneven hinge designs. If you look at a G41 ,it is very clear.

Why are the Hinges on the left alot bigger than the ones on the right. Does the left hinge provide any support?

The efficiency of two screens equally sized with equal numbers if pixels are equal. The time spent by a 4:3 user complaining about 16:9 is proportional to the inefficiency working with a 16:9 display, therefore the amount of useful work extracted is equal.

Older designs had the cables from the lid to the motherboard feeding through only one opening, so the hinge was an eminent place for that.
Why left? No idea.

If you take a look at the A31, IBM redirected the cables through a middle specialized hinge, and went ahead with two 'slim' symmetrical metal hinges; they are meant for support.

Ah, just lile the W700. It does the same for LCD but not for wifi. Those hinges are HUGE. Well, I dont imagine X61 hinges will hold up a 17" LCD.micrex22 wrote:If you take a look at the A31, IBM redirected the cables through a middle specialized hinge, and went ahead with two 'slim' symmetrical metal hinges; they are meant for support.
