Very Nice WinXP Browser

Just a heads up on a project over at the MSFN site under the WinXP thread.

A really nice fast browser project called New Moon ... a fork from Pale Moon, if I understand the terms correctly ... has been going on since October 1st. It was started by roytam1 and has really developed into quite a project.

In the last two weeks he jumped over to the K-Meleon forum and has brought that old K-Meleon 76 Pro version back to life ... a lot of excitement over there in the last 8 days.

At the MSFN forum he is also working on another WinXP browser and people seem to be excited about this development. I really like the New Moon browser and have tailored it to suit me more. He does not make an actual portable browser ... it is portable but there is no user or profile folder in the actual New Moon folder. I wanted a true portable browser so I used the last portable Pale Moon version for WinXP and replaced everything in the Bin folder and have cleaned out other stuff as newer New Moon builds are released.

I have a very good secure browser now for the internet ... very fast and secure.

K-Meleon on the other hand will be a longer term project but in 8 days already the excitement is there and I am using a better version of K-Meleon. Just a few days ago they gave roytam1 a special thread or place for all his postings.

For anyone interested ... I will post a small news update on the New Moon, Basilisk and K-Meleon browser projects.

The New Moon project at MSFN is now on Page 36 ... New Moon is still being advanced, there is a completely new Basilisk/UXP for XP project just started in Feb, the older one was dropped for this newer one.

The K-Meleon 77 browser is moving along ... the KM 77 number is not official, just being suggested for now over at the KM forum by those in charge. For now it's mostly KM-Goanna.

I have not yet tried the newer basilisk/UXP for XP browser. You can see it has the most fixes for now. I really like the New Moon browser ... it's not portable but I made mine portable using the last official PaleMoon-Atom portable version for WinXP and updated the "bin folder" with the New Moon bin folder and a few other browser updates. It's crude I guess but it works for me, I go 'one at a time' replacing everything, the first time and then update from that as new updates are released. Roytam1 does not like a portable version so he does not supply one ... he has posted how to make it portable on your own but I didn't understand all the steps.

Last Friday (March 02) roytam1 posted the latest updates for all three browsers at MSFN. In case there are new readers ... here is the information and link to Page 34. He usually updates every week so there could be newer updates at any time.

It must have been just minutes after I posted the last post ... roytam1 has posted new updates for all three browsers on Page 36. There is a fourth browser and I have no idea what this is exactly, the regular 'basilisk/moebius for XP' is above this one.

Just discovered there is a fifth browser update ... no idea what it is for, maybe special for some people ... has a warning.

Just posting here that I found Firefox 52.9.1 hidden on Mozilla's server today. I'm not sure why they didn't make it public, but I mentioned it over on the MSFN forum.
