Merging two SSD's into one - Boot three OS's
Merging two SSD's into one - Boot three OS's
I have a weird situation I've never had to solve before. I have two SSD's with the following configurations:
1] Boots MacOS only via Clover (choice of MacOS HD or Recovery HD)
2] Boots Win7 or Linux via GRUB (choice of Linux or Win7)
What I want to do is merge these two disks into one double the size of each of the above disks.
I would like Clover to offer MacOS, Mac Recovery, Linux, Win7 upon boot.
I have an old HDD to practice with and set everything up correctly on, of which I will then make a clone to the new SSD.
I am willing to reinstall Linux if necessary, but do not want to reinstall MacOS, nor Win7.
Can't use two disks because the X220 only supports one and the PCIE slots are taken.
MacOS is APFS if that makes any difference. I have a Macbook available to do any partitioning if necessary.
Any tips are much appreciated.

An easy way out would be to change one HDD/SSD for an mSATA one and put that in your WAN-slot.
I have the same setup in an X230, with a 250GB mSATA SSD with W7 in the WAN-slot and a 500gb 7200rpm HD in the drive-bay for storage.
That HDD is set to power down after 3 minutes of non-use.

He does not have a free slot, "the PCIE slots are taken."RealBlackStuff wrote: ↑Sat Feb 24, 2018 8:53 amAn easy way out would be to change one HDD/SSD for an mSATA one and put that in your WAN-slot.
the following is untested... before trying it, search around for exactly how to clone a windows PARTITION (not disk) with Clonezilla.
1. Clone the mac drive to a larger disk.
2. add partitions to disk (for windows and for linux)
3. boot into clonezilla
4. clone windows partition to 'partition image file' with clonezilla (you have to run a command in windows before doing this, to prepare the disk to be cloned)
5. copy windows partition image to larger disk
6. test windows partition is working. use grub, on external medium
7. update clover
8. install linux

You can clone the linux partition to the new drive, but you need to edit the /etc/fstab file to point to the new partition. Sometimes you just need to change the UUID to that of the new partition. You can use Clonezilla's live CD/USB to do that. Next step is configuring GRUB, but since I've never used Mac OS, I don't know how to prevent conflicts between GRUB and Clover.

Grub will not be used. The boot manager for all three systems will be Clover https://sourceforge.net/projects/cloverefiboot/.
