OFFTOPIC: Gmail Server Errors

#1 Post by tp42card » Tue Jun 22, 2004 2:05 pm

Fellas,

This is off-topic but is anyone having issues with their Gmail accounts? I've been getting 502 errors (The server encountered a temporary error and could not complete your request. Please try again in 30 seconds.) for over a day. Its not computer specific (my account wouldn't work on various isps and computers) and rather its account specific (i.e. my friend's account works fine on my computer but not mine).

Is anyone familiar with anyone at Google? What's going on? Why are some accounts jacked up? Its not just new accounts either as some have speculated as I've been a Gmail user for over 2 months.

Thanks in advance.

I have not had these problems myself, but I think it's worth mentioning that we're still in Beta testing stage at present - perhaps we should expect 'little' hiccups from time to time. Any code I write has hiccups for ages !

The only problem with mine is that I still haven't been granted any invites to give out.

And I second what Ian said - it's a beta product put out to a limited number of people for testing purposes. If you require stability, don't use it. If you use it and encounter problems, report them to Gmail as an issue - that's what they're looking for.

I don't have invites - but then I can't imagine why anyone invited me in the first place...

I encountered some errors last Friday around 11PM-Midnight (gmail saying that "service is temporarily unavailable") but I haven't had problems since then.

I don't know if they have problems or if I do. I still can't login! I keep getting a pop-up saying that I must have Javascript enabled in order to allow cookies to be set.

Well, I DO!

I just don't get it, literally and figuratively.

Sadly James, I can't seem to emulate your problems, despite trying really hard - I seem to be able to access, send, receive without undue problems at the moment - no doubt this will change when it's your turn !
