Thinkpad Reserve Edition Ripoff? *PICS*

Don't tell me this doesn't look like a total ripoff of the X61s Reserve Edition.

The efficiency of two screens equally sized with equal numbers if pixels are equal. The time spent by a 4:3 user complaining about 16:9 is proportional to the inefficiency working with a 16:9 display, therefore the amount of useful work extracted is equal.

Perhaps I could tell you, with bigger/more detailed pictures. But then it would violate the standing rules of the forum.

You Just need to post them as links instead of inline images. :D

Ars Technica has an article about it: https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2018/10 ... le-around/

From the looks of it, it's not a cover; the leather is an integral part of the laptop. :o

The problem with leather is that most implementations tend to age horribly and end up looking like crap; maintaining and restoring it is harder than with more commonly used materials like plastic and aluminium.

What I personally find more interesting about this device than the leather is the way the display rotates into a tablet (as seen in this video). Thats a great design and it reminds me a little bit about the old "ThinkPad Houdini" concept. So, kudos to HP for being innovative. Too bad that they did not realize the potential of a 3:2 screen in this one, because for a tablet-laptop hybrid, this aspect ratio would have been ideal and there is a lot of bezel beneath that display...

I'd say its just HP trying to compete against Microsoft Surface that have Alcantara finish as an option. They are upping the ante by making it all leather.

Its a neat double take for some when you have it closed on a desk.
