ThinkPad March Madness 2019 Bracket Tournament

#1 Post by Saucey » Tue Mar 05, 2019 6:01 am

Hey everyone, just posting this on a few platforms and see what ThinkPad would win.
PollTab Tournament
I believe each round ends every 3 days, except for the final, it ends on the next day... because who needs suspense!

Just vote and pick whatever ThinkPad is in there, its random.
I was limited to 32 participants, and I wrote quite a bit of ThinkPads in a basket, picked a few of them, did an order of elimination and had a randomizer before inputting them.
I didn't sift through the random results... some of the greatest ThinkPads are going up against each other in the first round, while some lame ones are toe to toe.

Anyways, I have this poll set without any password or user setup, but it does log the IP to hinder multiple votes.
I was looking elsewhere for tournament brackets but most required money, making accounts (spam emails) so I ended up with this one.
I tried making Challonge bracket, but I'm not sure if it has a timing schedule and can pick winners by vote.

If I missed out on good or bad ThinkPads, make your own bracket and have it duel against this champion! :thumbs-UP:

Interesting thing. I have given my votes.
But have stuck between S30 and TP25 anniversary.
TP25 is for sure Anniversary (collectible) model. But S30????
Looking at ThinkPad History @ ThinkWiki first ThinkPad dated at april 1992. So 10th anniversary should be at april 2002. But both S30 and S31 was built at 2001 and S31 closer to the point.
ThinkWiki states that S31 is 10th Anniversary model. But googling for 10th anniversary Thinkpad i have found this. Yes... it is X30 (Tualatin based ageless ThinkPad).
So the question is not 10th anniversary VS 25th anniversary but real classic VS reproduced classic... and i have chosen S30 (but even haven't touched any S30 or TP25 in live;)

Other interesting comparison TP25 anniversary VS T420 / T410. The same keyboard and 7 years of progress;)

It's a tough choice actually. Both are unique, rare models in their own way, that were sold only in select locales.

Or T420s/T430s. Especially with the FHD mod.
Thinkpad 25 (20K7), T490 (20N3), Yoga 14 (20FY), T430s (IPS FHD + Classic Keyboard), X220 4291-4BG
X61 7673-V2V, T60 2007-QPG, T42 2373-F7G, X32 (IPS Screen), A31p w/ Ultrabay Numpad

+1 interesting comparison. You can add T430u to that bracket, but it will be weakest - without classic keyboard mod and dock, with internal battery and worst display. But it is ultrabook class like TP25.

The T430u is basically a 3rd gen T440. Not a special machine at all.
Thinkpad4by3's Law of the Universe.

The efficiency of two screens equally sized with equal numbers if pixels are equal. The time spent by a 4:3 user complaining about 16:9 is proportional to the inefficiency working with a 16:9 display, therefore the amount of useful work extracted is equal.
