Adobe Acrobat reader / change margins?

#1 Post by Honnold » Mon Jul 18, 2005 10:36 pm

I have a document in pdf format on Adobe Acrobat Reader 7.0 which I want to print out. When I do so, the left hand margin is too small. All I want to do is change the margins of the entire document so the left margin is increased by 1/2 inch and right margin is decreased by same.

I can't for the life of me see how to do this. Is it impossible w/o purchasing the full Adobe Acrobat program? Is there any way around this, since it's not worth it to me to shell out the money for Adobe Acrobat?

All I need is the ability to play with the margins so I can three-hole punch the left side of the pages w/o cutting into the text.[/b]

Depending on the model printer you have, and how versatile it's driver is, there may be some things that you can do with the page layout settings.

For instance, the printer driver I have for my Epson allows me to set margins if I choose double-sided printing. I also have the choice to choose paper size, so if I reduced the paper size, that should increase the margins. Or I can reduce the size of the document printed - by a percentage.

The printer driver for the Brother printer I have access to is much more limited. I can only choose paper size.

Thanks for your reply. Wound up downloading a pdf freeware called "Nitro pdf" from www.download.com and was able to edit the margins that way. I could have download a free trial of Adobe Acrobat but that would have necessitated uninstalling and re-installing A.A. Reader once the free trial expired. I'm sure there was a more elegant way of solving this but....
