New here, how to properly post?

#1 Post by blunderbit » Sun Apr 14, 2024 9:40 am

Hey everyone, so I recently got into the ThinkPad hobby and I acquired 3 X61t's.

My plan is to combine all the best parts into one of them and start a further upgrade path for it.
For the other two, I want to bring them in a better shape and re-sell them.

I already made some preliminary research and have a rough idea of what my plan is.
Of course, it's likely I will want to get some advice as well as ask a number of related question about parts, where to find resources etc.
My question would be how to structure my posts here in this forum so that it follows whatever common standard there might already be.

For instance, after going to the X60/X61 section, should I just create one big thread and keep all the communication in there, or should I create individual threads for each specific subject (e.g. whether a part on the internet is genuine, or tips on how to replace a screen etc.)

Thanks!

Welcome to the Thinkpads.com forum.

IMO it's best to keep it in one thread because you're basically working on a single project. You'll only need a new thread if you have a question that's very off-topic from the current one.

Sound reasonable, thanks.

One other thing I wanted to ask concerned other trustworthy Thinkpad communities I could potentially consult for info.
I saw Thinkpad-forums.de is also very good, but can anyone vouch for /r/Thinkpad ?

It’s like any other typical reddit experience. Never had people wish me dead on this forum. r/thinkpad on the other hand….

If Reddit would do away with their stupid karma-system, I think it would improve overall by AT LEAST 30%.
Not to mention the enormous amount of "Did I get a good deal" and "Look at my cat on the laptop"...
'Nuff said.
Lovely day for a Guinness! (The Real Black Stuff)

Yeah that sounds quite like Reddit, hah, I'll keep it in mind.
