Personal choice
And I hear people make insults about Thinkpads being 21 inch widescreens that break when you type on the keyboard. They also claim them to be 45 pounds.

People make choices based on their personal needs and desires, and we're all different. Choosing a different notebook certainly doesn't warrant being called a "retard" and being jeered at in public however much we may feel that ThinkPads are better. It's just an appliance not a life-altering decision.

I'm quite sure the XPS Gen 2 owning person/retard will laugh heartily when 'tehsoul' tries to run a game on his ThinkPad. When it comes to gaming the Dell is a Ferrari Enzo in relation to the VW Beetle ThinkPadnonny wrote:To quote Steve007, why?tehsoul wrote:i for one will be pointing and laughing at the first retard i see bringing such a laptop to class next year

Actually, most XPS Gen 2 owners
A:Brag about benchmark
B:Then take notes in college or such
C:Brag about lighting
D:Doesn't play any decent games, only ones that even a PC from 1998 can run
They usually don't play games on it, unless they're an "Elitist gamer who hates all laptops" (Sheograth of Gamefaqs) and insults Thinkpads specifically, yet dodges all good questions.

People who 'brag' about machines should be shot. It's quite sad that in this day and age that these sort of cretins still exist.Navck wrote:Actually, most XPS Gen 2 owners

Actually I ment most of them do A-D...
Go to a wireless accesspoint like Starbucks, you will see XPS Gen 2 owner walk to you and say "HEY CHECK MY 3D MARK05 SCORE OUT! I BET IT OWNS YOUR SUCKTOP AND THAT BLACK BOX YOU HAVE"
Then you see them show you the score, exit some old racing game, and finish college/high school homework.
Then s/he proceeds to cycle the lights, which can induce an sezuire in certain people.

Some of these people display what XPS Gen 2 users would act like (Out of touch with reality?)

It is really funny how we view the XPS and it's users nowadays. I remember a time when the XPS was a beige box powered by a Pentium 166 and MMX wasn't even in anyones imagination yet.

sheesh...i'm fond of my thinpad but it's surprising that so many folks have time to be concerned with what computers people use or how they spend their money. Or why others feel the need to loudly defend themselves.
it tires me out just to read the (increasing) number of "anti-rants" popping up here.

don't get me wrong, I'm not one of those guys who would have babies with his thinkpad once that technology is introduced, but I have a hard time understanding some people (i got lots of them in my class, believe me) who spend thousands of dollars on a state of the art laptop with a 17" screen and the latest&greatest ati radeon 120000+ pro or whatever. to replace their desktop? no, to show it off and look 'cool'.
they carry that monster to school and what do they do? Take notes and do some general coding.
it doesnt grind my gears and keep me awake at nights, i just find it amusing

Personally, whenever I can, I do like to throw in a good self-glorifying brag about my desktop computer or something else I can brag about and I will voice my viewpoint on technology and disagree with others at given timesbut I do see when I'm about to hit the line. I see computers as tools and arguing over who has the best computer on their desk is like arguing over who has the better blender in their kitchen or who has the better lightbulb in their ceiling.

Well, there are some real hardcore fanboys around in my area with their gaming notebooks (Mostly XPS Gen 2)
I suggest you do not even have face contact with them if you have your laptop, looking at the = Causing them to come over, brag how much better theirs is...
Even if the person they're taunting also has their model... "OH YEA SO? I UH HH OPTIMIZED MINE! HA LOSER!"
Zip - 92677, state - California

Wow..is this high school or college b/c I haven't seen a single person brag about their laptop or desktop the way some of you here have described people doing...and I'm a college student- an engineering college student (the type that on average, spend the most amount of time playing games). Sure we're proud of our investment and decision like AlphaKilo470 said, but in the end its a tool and thats all it is....if its college...these braggers are quite pathetic.
