New boot logo for my T42p

#1 Post by Kenn » Thu Sep 01, 2005 10:09 pm

I was bored last night, as if I didn't have enough work to do. Still, I spent the good part of an hour making a new boot-up logo and flashing it to my system.

I like the simple look, but in reality that's just an excuse for not being an artist

Search for Chatbox's instructions about 2/3 way down. This works for the current (3.17?) BIOS file as well - I reflashed over my existing 3.17 so you don't have downgrade your BIOS first.

I really haven't looked into it, but my old 600E had 'Personalization Editor' for changing the boot logo. I guess IBM isn't offering this feature on their newer laptops. I wonder why?

I don't get something.
(I have 1.02 BIOS version for my T43).
Chatbox said "If your current BIOS is the same as the one you're downloading in Step 2, you'll need to downgrade your BIOS first before you continue."
Does it regards also T43 models?

You can ignore that part of the instructions - you don't need to downgrade your bios. I just flashed the current one over again, this time with the logo included.

The BIOS versions are different for the T43 because of the Sonoma platform, but I imagine you shouldn't have any problem flashing the same version of the BIOS over again. If you're risk-adverse (understandable - it is the BIOS after all), you can always downflash first before you reflash it.
