How's this deal for a T43?

#1 Post by melloyelloww » Fri Sep 23, 2005 5:58 pm

Got a T43 ordered up this afternoon. Paid $1648.73 + $35.00 shipping = $1683.73.

Its part #2668-CFU.
P 760 2ghz
512mb
60G 5400rpm
CDR-DVD
15.0" SXGA+ Flexview
X300 64mb
Non-intel Wireless A+B+G
Modem
3 year

Cons: no bluetooth or fingerprint. I'd have liked Bluetooth.

I'm stretching the budget more then I'd like (+$120 for a gig more of RAM). Should I have just gone with a T42. I figured I should get the T43 2ghz and hang onto it for a year then upgrade. However, I've still got 2 weeks before shipping so I could modify my order also.

I was torn between the 14.1 and the 15 but ultimately recommendations of the Flexview won out.

How'd I go guys? Should I cancel and get a T41. I usually hang onto computers for about 2 years (900mhz Gateway laptop, then a Dell 2.6P4).

Thanks, and I've enjoyed reading these posts leading up to getting an Thinkpad.

andrew - looks like a nice deal. I prefer the 15" Flexview display over the 14" SXGA+ panels, though if you plan on taking it on the road I would consider trying the 14" model.

if you decide to go for the 14", the 2373H6U is an amazing deal: fingerprint reader, bluetooth, 3 yr warranty, 7200rpm hard drive, etc., all for $1341 (it's a CTO model, so you choose the components you want).

just go to thinkpad.com, choose Special Offers, then View All notebooks, and then choose the link for highly mobile users:
