don't know if that has been posted somewhere yet, but I was shocked what they do with Thinkpads. ;-)

It's a shame that they don't show that the Thinkpad still functions after all of it. Nice videos though. I would never have the guts to do that intentionally.

Agree with yakman. In the water video, all it shows is that power is still going through the unit immediately after/during the pouring. OK, that's impresive enough, but let's have a look after a few weeks, once the minerals in the water have a chance to find there way into nooks and crannies and short things out.

Also, rather impressive how he flipped it nice enough to land the way it did, although I'm sure centre of gravity had a bit to do with it!

Sorry about bringing this thread back from the dead... but I was wondering :crossing fingers: if anyone actually saved the "Water" clip to their hard drive. Basically, (IIRC) it shows a guy pouring a glass of water over a T4x series keyboard... but since it's now off the servers I have no where else to ask. Tried Google, but to no avail...

Wonder why the ezserv center claims water damage even for cases where there was no water damage , yet in the past they had all these ads claiming the ruggedness of thinkpads.

These Ads are by IBM showing the durability and robustness of the Thinkpads ; they have nothing to do with EZServ.

To me, it seems as if EZServ can claim it is spill damage and quickly shift the burden of proof onto you. Take some form of lasting record from the Thinkpad before it goes in (Picture, Fluke meter readings, etc) and then they can't quickly get rid of you or get money by saying it was spill damage.

Lenovo link is down

#9 Post by beeblebrox » Sun Mar 26, 2006 11:40 am

Ok guys, I saw your posts.

Unfortunately, the great video clips are down. Lenovo removed them.

But I remember the contents.

Water: A guy pours one cup of water after another on a running X41, showing how water tight the keyboard is and how the drainage holes work.

Drop: A guy left his thinkpad in his wallet, leaning onto his car. Forgot it and drove off - crunch - car rolled over the wallet.
Thinkpad was crushed, they turned it on and... the windows melody started, on a broken screen.

I guess, Lenovo folks figured out, that if they kept those videos too many brain-dead folks will start suing Lenovo because they crushed or drowned their Thinkpad and according to those commercials they are entitled to do so.

Wasn't there a disclaimer for those? Perhaps in fine print somewhere; although I can imagine IBM being more paranoid about such lawsuits than Lenovo.
