Should we post a stolen laptop serial numbers thread?

#1 Post by a31pguy » Wed Oct 19, 2005 10:54 pm

After watching a couple of news articles - should we have a stolen laptop thread which posts the serial numbers and PD reports so that people who purchase laptops off ebay or such can check to see if they are stolen?

btw - All hail the flying speghetti monster!

I think it would be a great service to offer, even if someone just wanted to vent, maybe people don't want to give to much personal information about the circumstances of the theft, however, anything that would help someone put their mind at ease is a plus.

In this thread, I was told about theft@us.ibm.com.
If venting helps someone, then let's let them have a go at it, but the detailled infos (serial no and similar) should go to a central place.
