Cleaning 15" Flexview screen?
What's the best recommendation for cleaning a Thinkpad screen? I mostly want something to wipe away dust. I know a paper towel or (gasp) a Starbucks napkin is a no-no since they can make very fine scratches. The thinkpad manual recommends a "soft damp cloth" but I'd really like to find one that is A) really is soft B) leaves no lint behind C) is portable.
So, how do you clean YOUR screen? There may be two answers to this question, one for a simple dust-wipe, and one for a real cleaning with some soap or solution for stuff like fingerprints.

Assuming that the screen is clean and only dusty, I use a long haired paint brush - it's actually a 'dusting brush' designed to be used before painting, obviously to remove dust - this works extremely well for all my LCD displays.
A soft cloth, combined with lens cleaning solution, does for the finger marks (heaven forbid) etc.

I would be a little cautious using Windex! It could be corrosive for either the plastic or whatever layer the LCD plastic could have.
A soft cloth (100 cotton or any tissue designed for lenses) lighly damped in a mixture of water and alcohol at equal parts is what it is the norm for cleaning a LCD screen.
Personally, I use a very soft cotton cloth damped with water in one corner and then I startting o softly rubbing with the other tissue corner to dry and remove residues and traces. This was worked every time. 50%Alcohol solution, I have only used for extreme cases or for the outside of the laptop.
(Alcohol should be safe because manufactures knows we are using it so the protective layers should be ok with it.)

T60p 2007-93U 1600x1200 IPS (T42p is an overall better machine though. Lack of new IPS Thinkpads keeps me buying these older models!)
T42p 2373-KXU 1600x1200 IPS (The best ever!!)

I use a very soft microfiber 12 in. x 12 in. cloth for light jobs like dust or small smudges. For bigger jobs, I use Dust Off Alcohol Free Multipurpose Wipes and the microfiber cloth.
Be careful using things like windex, or some dishwashing soaps and/or detergents. If they have corrosive agents, it could seriously harm the thin film protecting your screen. If you do use water, make sure it is distilled. If it is from the tap, and you use it to clean your screen, when the water evaporates, it can leave mineral smudges, and that means more work for you to get that off your screen.
Hope this helps.
