Questoin about IBM a/b/g miniPCI card

#1 Post by ClayMan » Tue Jul 13, 2004 11:15 pm

What chipset does it use?

I know it's an Atheros chipset... But is it the 5002, 5004, or the 5005?

Support for draft IEEE 802.11e, f, and h standards
Is this the future?

Is it? I haven't really been keeping up. Do you know what the specs will be? I'm assuming a 2.4GHz frequency, but what kind of bandwidth and range are we talking about? Also, if you're keeping up with these things, when will they roll out .16 (WAN) access?

Since it's late, and I'm tired, I just provide a link:
.11e and i (yeah, this one is coming too).

I have no idea about the .16 WAN.

As new wireless standards emerge, will it be likely we'll be able to upgrade our Wireless Mini PCI adapters in our ThinkPads to take advantage of the new technologies?

I think we will be able to do that. But only with expensive IBM Cards :(

(Thanks IBM for installing a hardwarelock in the bios :( )
