What would you do???

#1 Post by W_F_R » Sun Jan 15, 2006 11:26 pm

I may be the only one who can answer this, but I thought I would throw it out there for some opinions...

Being the smart guy that I am, I bid on and won two Thinkpads. The first a new-sealed 2373-4wu and the second a new-open box 2373-jxu for about $200 more. The seller of the jxu is kindly offering to cancel the sale for a small fee. While I know the jxu is a fancier machine with the b/g card, 9600 and 15" sxga, is it worth the extra weight and risk of having to try and resell the 4wu?

I basically just surf the web and use MS Office, no heavy gaming or such. I think the 4wu will meet my needs, but the jxu is a really nice machine and probable a little more "future-proof".

TIA for your thoughts.

I would send one to my house.

PM me for an address.

But seriously, I would pay the fee right away to have the auction cancelled and not worry too much about specs right now just to be rid of the stress of trying to re-sell. It seems to me that if you were bidding on both machines, you were prepared to live with either of them. Things being what they are, I would say cut your losses with the seller who is ready to cancel and run.

Ditto. Pay the fee and cut your losses.

I would pay the cancellation fee that the JKU Seller is offering and go with the 4WU. I wouldn't go through the hassle of a re-sell of a never-opened Thinkpad.

I met someone who looks a lot like you.
She does the things you do.
But she is an IBM.
