IBM's harvard page?

#1 Post by hapzunglam » Sun Jul 18, 2004 6:56 pm

Does anybody know the URL for IBM's higher ed price page for harvard? I saw it posted here last week but that post appears to have been deleted for some reason....

I wanted to see the price list because my friend is attending the school next semester....

thanks

if your friend is attending it next semester, he should be able to access the page himself.

if you want more in depth description, just plug the model # into IBM's web page.

Description - Model - Harvard Price - ("IBM" Price)

T42 PM1.5GHZ 512MB 40GB COMBO XP HARVARD UNIVERSITY
IBM 2373H12 $1,329.00 ($1,993.50)

T42P PM1.8 512MB 60GB COMBO SXGA XP HARVARD UNIVERSITY
IBM 2373H14 $1,905.00 ($2,857.50)

T42 PM1.8 1GB 60GB DVD-RW 15" UXGA XP HARVARD UNIVERSITY
IBM 2373H16 $2,389.00 ($3,583.50)

T41 1.6GHZ 512MB 60GB COMBO SXGA XP HARVARD UNIVERSITY

thanks for the price list... but i kinda wanted to see the full list, or is that the full T-series list for harvard??

also, do you happen to know what harvard's policy is on purchasing equipment? limit per student per semester? i want to get all the facts together before asking my friend for the favor to buy one for me (instead of getting her to do all the work in getting prices/rules/etc/etc)

and would she buy it directly from harvard or through ibm

thanks much

also, i tried plugging in the model number onto ibm's site, but didn't work, at least for the 2373H16 model....
http://www5.pc.ibm.com/us/products.nsf/ ... p/_2373H16
returns a "can't find model number"

1) that's the complete list of their thinkpad specials. they sell other thinkpads at a slight discount, but unworth it imho (for instance to get a model that's the same as the H16, but w/ a dvd-rom in place of the burner, would actually be a bit more)

2) http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... ry=2373H16

3) don't know their policies, it has never been an issue.

thanks for all the info....

lastly, do i/she go straight to the campus computer store or order through ibm or the harvard online store?

and also, when you said "it's never been an issue" does that mean that while you don't know the precise policy on the number of machines a student is allowed to buy, you have been able to purchase more than one per semester?

you obviously didn't read Harvard's page well enough
Purchases through these sites are restricted to members of the Harvard community and are verified by both IBM and Harvard as they are processed.

how do they verify it? does my friend actually have to place the order or will they just call him to confirm he knows me and he's a student??

i havent talked to the kid in about 6 months, and i'd feel really dumb calling out of the blue just so i can get a discountv on a T42...

which takes you to ibm.com.

Your friend should easily be able to go from there.
