Just share with you guys,
There is a big gap between the bezel (LCD frame) and the LCD screen on my X41. I called IBM-SERV and they sent me a box to send the unit for service. Here is the story
(1) When I got the unit one week later, the gap was still there and became bigger, plus new problems: huge oil prints on the screen, the screen on the hard drive corver was messed up, the sticker with word "X41" and various symbols like WiFi, bluetooth, was peered off.
(2) I called them again and got another box. After another week, I got the unit back. The big gap is still there and the sticker is still peered off. All they did was replacing a screw. Plus, another problem came out, the unit froze when shutting down.
I called again and ask how long it would take to repair the unit. The agent said I have to continuously send the unit back until (i) the unit is repaired, or (ii) the warranty expires.
I told them that I just bought it for several month and the unit has 3 year warranty. That agent said then they can try to repair it for 3 years.
Asked if they can send someone onsite to repair it since I don't want to wait for another week. The agent said "absolutely no".
So, here is my lesson:
(1) Thinkpad's warrant is useless in certain sense.
(2) Take advantage of 30 day return. For even the slightest problem, return it or exchange it.
My next lappy would definitely not be a Thinkpad. This is really a very disappointing experience.

Sorry to hear about the bad experience!
Make sure you talk to IBM/Lenovo and NOT Solectron!!! You can tell you are talking to IBM because it will say that you are being routed to IBM/Lenovo Technical Support in Atlanta, Georgia!!! ( I think it is option 2 when you call IBM SERV)
MAKE SURE you keep a record of EVERY CALL (names, etc...make sure they log the call and give you a reference number as well as each repair attempt service number!) Have it escalated to second level support, if it gets too much to take the back and forth BS; as for a replacement!!!
Best of luck!!!
