SONY Getting Desperate!?!?
SONY Getting Desperate!?!?
Sony is offering a $500 tradein for any working Dell laptop, or $300 for any other laptop when you purchase one of their overpriced BX series laptops.

I've briefly read the terms and conditions of the offer and can't find any reason why you couldn't send them an ancient POS working laptop and receive the tradein rebate if anyone is considering a Sony purchase.
Regards,
James

Wow, their requirements are ridiculous.
You have to have proof of purchase on the system that you are trading in. The system has to be operable. They will deduct $25 if the battery is dead. You must have the COA for the OS.
I guess it isn't really unreasonable, it just seems like a lot of hoops to jump through....I'll stick with IBM.

An old Dell or something like a 760 series Thinkpad? Worth more on eBay!440roadrunner wrote:Sorry, I have a different opinion. If you have all that, you might as well keep it. It's probably worth more than that on eBay, anyway.

Finally, a way to get rid of my dell inspiron 7000 from 1998. It is on the list. Now to see if it still runs (I think the battery is dead though....)

thinkpad x60s, type:1702-94U, (2X) 512MB, 40GB HD (5400rpm), 802.11abg, Ultralight LCD.

Exactly the type of unit I had in mind, somewhere between a landfill or use as a doorstop.amgdoc wrote:Finally, a way to get rid of my dell inspiron 7000 from 1998. It is on the list. Now to see if it still runs (I think the battery is dead though....)
Even if the battery doesn't work, you should still get $475 for it.
Although perhaps you should consider selling it on eBay where you can get more for it in certain time/space continuums!

Hmm, I'm wondering if a printout of a few PMs discussing a deal can count as proof of purchase. If so, and if I ever buy a Vaio, I'm sending in the 486 laptop I got from another forum member. I'm able to get over two hours of use out of the old NiMH battery and the computer boots into Windows for Workgroups 3.11 and displays everything on a monochrome LCD.
