Looks like the first virus attack on MAC OSX has taken place:

And now we will all fall into the downward spiral.

Thankfully there's quite a few AV programs out there already, and at least corporate and most pro users alreaday use them... so it's really no big deal.

It's not the first Mac virus btw... just the "first" (debateable still) for OS X. Mac OS 6, 7 had several.

macs have had viruses for a LONG time now. They just havent been very prevalent for the obvious reasons (small amt users, posix like permissions, etc).

that DOESNT mean you CANT gain access to a mac without a virus. There are tons of "hack-my-mac" contests out there.

Windows on the other hand has the exact converse of some of the options making macs/linux "more secure".

cheers

The permission system makes Mac OS X much more secure regardless.

Something Windows still completely lacks (the current system in windows is useless).

I know that this isn't a big deal. I just thought that it was funny that it deserved its own article on CNN.

I am also aware that this isn't the first virus for Mac. I stated in my original post that it was the first for MAC OSX. I am sure that this can be debated as well, because most of the time, these things don't get widespread attention. My guess is that there was a news correspondent that got the virus and thought "Wow, I have never had a virus on a MAC before....this must be newsworthy!"
