I met someone who looks a lot like you.
She does the things you do.
But she is an IBM.

Thanks for the link, very interesting.christopher_wolf wrote:So far so good; of course, I am waiting for my T61 to see for myself.![]()
I admire your patience in "waiting"... admittedly not a strong point of mine. As a (sic) early adopter, there have been times when I've paid the price...
Perhaps that's why I've "invested" so much in new ThinkPads...and enjoyed every minute of it!

Sorry. I cannot help it when I hear companies like Microsoft or Intel raise their beaks and rave like a cock at dawn over something old like true hyper threading or true multitasking.
1992 motorola 68000 series powered Amigas had hyper threading and true multi-tasking. Amigas were not limited to two virtual PCs either. They do several. Amigas were so advanced that the original Amigas never went out of production, demand or use. Gateway bought the rights to Jack Tramiel's Amiga series when Commodore Business Machines went under due to an incompetent marketing department and a senior management war that booted founder & genius Jack Tramiel out of the company. (He went on to found game company Sega or Atari, dont remember which)
Gateway made and sold the Amiga line, parts & O/S basically unchanged until about 2002. A European group bought the rights to Amiga and the trademark. They make and sell Amiga under the name Amiga. There is still a strong niche demand for Amigas in the video, music, and graphic arts world.
It is good to hear that Microsoft and Intel finally figured out how to hyper-thread and make processors that work as dual virtual processors, "computers on a chip". Tramiel, Amiga, & Motorola just called it "multi-tasking." Jack Tramiel never made a billion bucks but he sure knew how to design a computer system & Motorola Computing Division sure knew how to engineer processors.
