I took a training session once, where they used desktop replacements (forget what series). The company had some regional offices for sales (but no perminant inhabitants), so the offices were essentially empty space. When they ran a session in an office, they shipped in the laptops.
Was a pretty good solution. And when it was done, they were packed up in a big case, and sent to the next training session somewhere else.

Yeah, it sounds like somebody really thought those training sessions out well and picked the right kind of laptop for the job. That is the kind of environment where I can see a desktop replacement laptop really being used successfully; although it is a niche application to some extent.
If those companies in that link stick with that, then I think it is their idea to minimize cost as well as provide desktop power within arange of mobility.
