Cannot acquire IP when connected to Linksys wireless router
I can connect my R52 Tp to the Linksys router. I can see the signals but i cannot acquire the IP. Whenever i click internet explorer, the computer will show me 1 white page with words: page cannot be displayed. I need to use a cable to connect to the internet. I had read through all Linksys guides and googled the topic and found out that i had configured my router correctly but my computer cannot acquire the IP. Now i cannot surf in my military camp. Coz, it is using wireless and i need to climb up so high and fit my cable into the router and surf from there.
Router setting: No broadcast of signal
MAC access only
Help!!!

I connected to the router using cable and i just type in 192.164.1.1 and there is no password in the router. I can access the router configuration. I already typed my MAC into the configuration and still it cannot acquire IP. Ahh...
Is it related to static IP? All linksys need static IP? I am so used in proxies that i forgot how to use static IP. Do i need to change the computer setting also?

If you are using static IP you do not acquire an IP from the router, you assign one to the computer. Use DHCP if you want to acquire an IP from the router.
If you are not broadcasting the SSID you wll need to put the SSID into your computer also. If you are not broadcasting a signal you will not connect at all.

Oh...Forget something... I am not in my school and my school does not use linksys router. I am in my military camp site and i just need to connect to the internet to surf this site and some other sites. The router only recogbises MAC and i have my MAC in the router together with the SSID in my computer. I can connect to the network but get stuck on 1 page. If i continue to click on yahoo or other websites, page cannot be displayed message will come out. I am fiddling with the router settings now.Orevin wrote:You will have ask your schools administrator for the correct network settings.

Check with your military unit's commanding officer, or make sure you are not set for static IP's like carbon unit said, right click on the LAN connectino and go to TCPIP properties and see what is there. Make sure you are plugging in to the right ports on the router.
Do an IPCONFIG /all and report back soldier.

Officer Kyocera,
this is my report about the IP stuffs:
Physical Address: 00-10-FO-10-9B-86
IP Address: 84.16.242.76
Subnet Mask: 255.255.25.0
Default Gateway: 84.16.84.1
DHCP Server: 84.16.84.1
Lease Obtained: 6/17/2006 10:51:12AM
Lease Expires: 6/17/2006 11:51:12AM
DNS Server: 84.16.252.49
WINS Server:
ISP: StarHub Internet Pte Ltd
StarHub Abuse Response Team
copyrightact@starhub.com
Host: starhub-net
***************************************************
Should i contact my ISP provider about this? Or maybe check my account with them? I am beginning to feel that my account has got something to do with this. Because i can see the signal and everything but when i log into my starhub account, a message box pop out telling me that my account is inactive. What inactive? I can surf at home but not in my military camp. Why??

You need a wireless guy to help you. An IT guy.
I will tell you how to manage your wireless network. Check your network access and use access connection to connect to the respective networks. Go to run, ipconfig,ok.
ipconfig /release
wait for 20 minutes
ipconfig /renew
done.. All IP should change. Starhub refresh rate is fast. The way you described your case, it does not look like your ISP locked your account. When they locked your account, they will send 1 e-mail and a registered letter to your house telling you why they locked your account. If you had committed some sort of offence, they will send you 1 letter to charge you in court. Talk with your ISP provider and see what they can do for you. I was terminated 3 years ago because i was as mischievous as you are 5 years ago.

Ok, computer cannot acquire IP because your IP keeps changing so network cannot detect you are that correct trusted user or not. Just like when you log into the ... and then the cookie will log you out when you click AP. You need to re-authenticate yourself again to get into the AP. But no, as i told you over there, do the cookie dance..... Because of security matters, you need to use a static IP which do not change at all to log into the AP. AP? Admin panel.
