Monitor won't come from sleep after restart

#1 Post by krma-thkpds » Tue Jun 20, 2006 5:25 pm

I have a problem here. Just bought a desktop computer with ASUS motherboard. After some booting and installing I found out that sometimes (not always) when I restart the computer (or even when it restarts itself, ie. during Windows installation) monitor wouldn't come from sleep mode. The computer restarts normally, just that monitor stays in sleep mode. Have anyone seen anything like that? Any advice would be appreciated.

The Abit motherboard on my desktop PC had a problem sometimes with one mode of Standby. I switched to a different mode, and now I have no more problems. In the original mode, moving the mouse would wake the desktop, but sometimes it would hang (IIRC). In the mode I switched to, I have to press the power button to bring the computer out of Standby (yes it is in Standby, and not powered off). It's not quite as convenient, but it works.

The Abit motherboard I have, has BIOS settings for changing sleep states (standby mode). Perhaps your Asus has this feature. If so, try one of the other sleep states.
