UPS upgraded Delivery?

#1 Post by scsgoal31 » Fri Jun 30, 2006 2:41 am

My z60t, ordered on 6/16, originally schedule for a 7/06 shipment was instead shipped today, 6/29. Cool, it's happened before, no surprise there. I got the standard, free, 5-7 day delivery.

So I get the shipping info late tonight, and it's already in Kentucky. Not only that, but it's in "Exception" Status due to waiting for all packages to arrive. However, the "rescheduled delivery" is tomorrow, 6/30.

Is this accurate? Did they really next-day my laptop? Or is it normal to be stuck in this "exception" status for longer than one day?

Not that anyone seems interested :P , but this morning (6/30) my laptop appears to be making its way through customs without any crazy holds, and the delivery will be made on Monday...which is still Second Day delivery for the price of..well, free standard shipping.

Glad to hear your machine is on it's way, I have found that shipping post's are extremely important to those who are waiting, but not to those who aren't.

Been in your shoes.

I have a plug-in coming from the US by UPS. It is here, and:

1. They will only deliver in our neighbourhood around noon 5 days per week. They are asleep the rest of the time. (and I am not home at noon).

2. I will pick it up at their depot. Hours of operation? 9am to 6pm five days a week. Bankers hours

UPS are a bunch of clueless doofuses who have no business being a courier. They have no idea on the face of this earth what customer service is about.

I have to agree with jdhurst. I can't say I agree with their business practices.

That being said I can't say I agree with any of their practices. I've been on the inside. And as a consumer had to deal with them on the outside. You'd be surprised at some of the stuff that goes on inside of the "hub".

Cheers. John.

I was never a fan of FedEx either, but it is taking UPS five days to get my package to me starting from the time the package arrived in my city. FedEx runs its delivery on bankers hours as well, but at least they will let me pick up a parcel on the same day as attempted delivery because their depots are open long hours (most thankfully). ... i worked at ups a few years ago, and when people saw "handle with care" they made sure to completely disregard that. its a shame.

i had a ups package last week that they kept trying to deliver, even though no one would ever be home- i called and had them hold the package for pickup same day. they even offerered to try delivering it again later the same day, but i just wanted to pick it up myself.

LOL. Aparrently you didn't ever work for UPS, because honestly, I never even saw a "Handle with Care" tag on any of MY boxes. Why you say?? Because I was loading and scanning more than 2500 boxes (from 10-70 pounds) within about 4 hours.

I dare anyone in here to take a job tour before selecting UPS as your primary logistics provider. Underpaid minorities, working in unreasonable conditions. No hard feelings though :)

Cheers. John.

you seem to have posted for the sake of posting, and not making any real point. people put "fragile" notes on packages all the time, so i dont know why you would deny such an obvious thing.

second, im happy that you moved X number of boxes, but i also was moving 3-4 tons in the same time period. not much to brag about though when they pay $10 an hour.

as to minorities, you have based that on personal experience, and while i cant deny it, you shouldnt be saying something as racially insensitive here on the thinkpad forums.

i wouldnt know about where you worked since you dont know how to follow the forum rules on stating your location.

You have proof of those statements do you?

Also, Dsigma has a point; put your location in your profile.
