Barbaro

#1 Post by dsigma6 » Thu Jul 13, 2006 3:05 pm

This whole fiasco really urks me. These filthy rich owners love their horse so much that they enter it in a race, and put it through rigorous training. They love it because of the money it can bring them naturally.

I just don't get why a) this brings national news coverage b) these "fans" are on tv holding get well signs for an animal forced to compete.

I don't know, it's hard to say exactly what I mean, but it's just frustrating..

Asians will say this is called: (chinese) Yao Qian Shu --> Money tree.

They regard their horses as something to spin money for them. If one day the horses cannot make money for them anymore, i think most probably they will just dump it or kill it.

According to the latest report ( http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/R/ ... 4-12-23-50 ) Barbaro is doing "much better" today.

I don't know anything about horses, but I've been privileged to share my home with Greyhounds, both retired racers and those raised from pups. Greyhounds don't run because they're "forced to compete". They run because they love it and they'll chase anything that moves. They go about 2 minutes a day when young, somewhat less when older, and spend the rest of the day sacked out.

If race horses are anything like Greyhounds, Barbaro loved every second he spent on the track.
I used to be an anarchist but I quit because there were too many rules

that sounds reasonable to me. but still, the owners wouldnt love him if he wasnt a winner. he would be available at BK.
