Does anyone own this IBM Thinkpad carry-bag?

I was thinking about purchasing it with my Thinkpad order and was just wondering if anyone owned it...is it really as good as it seems? My 2 main questions are a) Is the material durable and b) Is it roomy enough?

i own the nylon version. imo it's huge and ugly. it's really big - if it were more compact it'd look better. also it looks more like a portfolio than an actual bag. it's too flat and vertical. as far as durability goes, it seems to be well-constructed. roomy - depends. there's pretty much enough room for a laptop and probably a couple of textbooks plus some accessories but that's it.

if i could have the option again, i'd totally not waste my money on that bag and save up for one of these:

the meta backpack is what i'm looking at.

so actually no it's not as good as it seems. i ordered one thinking it'd be my everyday bag, but boy was i wrong. once i saw it in person i saw how ugly it was.

does this bag have a protective cushion on the top?

Could the people who own this bag please confirm for me whether it has any sort of cushion that protects the laptop in the area just beneath the zippers that close the bag? I have an almost identical IBM case (the only difference being that it is not leather) that IBM appears not to sell anymore. The bag is fine and very protective on the bottom and the sides but there is no protective layer on the top area just beneath the zippers.

it has the padded cushions in the same places you described... and it does not have padding on the top (where the zipper is)... however the outer ribbed part (where the handles are attached) on each side is raised a bit higher than the zipper and its pretty study and thus would provide a fair amount of protection (assuming the zipper is closed).
