Intel pulling forward the Kentsfield launch date

They briefly previewed a Kentsfield system (OK, they simply used it to run PowerPoint slides on, but still...), back at a pre-launch conference for Merom and Conroe. Quad-core does sound nice and, if it improves as much as it is claimed, will be quite the powerhouse. Although I wonder how a Kentsfield quad-core would stack up against a Quad-PPC system.
