Tracking Multiple Passwords

#1 Post by The Bard » Wed Aug 09, 2006 11:21 pm

The number of passwords I need to keep track of for various websites is becomming overwhelming and I'm looking for suggestions on simplifying my life.

What software applications are folks out there using to track (and perhaps even generate) secure passwords? Roboform? KeePass? Another application? I'm looking for secure, reliable, and easy to use.

Or are people using their fingerprint sensors to log into individual password protected websites?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

I use the Fingerprint Reader plus the CSS software; if you want a set of lightweight applications that generate and store passwords without traces in the registry or elsewhere, here are a few I have found useful from time to time;

PassPack
PassSafe
Passkeeper
KeepPass
PINs

All of the above are lightweight with the only install process being archival extraction in most cases and they leave little traces in addition to being tough to crack.

Storing passwords anywhere is just asking for trouble.

Try an organizational method that lets you keep track of the passwords of similar orders.

I use Password Corral by Cygnus and I find it useful. It encrypts the passwords and allows a strong password to access the tool. I find it to be adequately safe. ... JD Hurst

I've used SplashID for years, which does pretty much exactly what the program described by JD does.

I keep the database file in a contained created by TrueCrypt, just for extra security.

keylogger once against either of you and you're done.

They have to get in, do it, collect the file (which does not exist with Password Corral) and then break the data encryption. I have been using this tool for years and years and online 24x7x365 the whole time.

So while I may be "done", I won't hold my breath waiting (I might die first). ... JD Hurst
