invalid phone number? anybody got any experience?

#1 Post by bigtiger » Thu Aug 10, 2006 10:44 am

I recently received many phone calls with invalid calling ID.

For unfamiliar phone calls, I usually let it become a missed call. Then call back. But recently there are many invalid phone numbers. The areas codes are usually from Florida, DC, Oregon area.

Anybody got same experience?

Caller ID spoofing is very common these days. Sometimes I get calls from 888-888-8888.
If they are spoofing their Caller ID number you probably don't want to talk to them anyway.

Caller-ID spoofing? I think phone companies are at fault. They should be able to track down all spoof calls. I contacted Tmobile and was told they cannot track down them.

You are right. I do not answer suspicious phone calls. I think I answered few times. They were some sort of recordings.

that'll get you somewhere...their customer service has gone from excellent to sub par in a matter of years.

You are right. I had a hard time have myself understood. It seemed caller-id is not in their database. Those reps finally understood what is caller-id and wanted to change my phone number for free. I said, no, thank you.

I just read some news that many companies are plannning to close call centers in India, because they are losing customers.

i would love that. not trying to burst the rapidly growing bubble that is india, but placing calls nearly every day to xerox and not understanding a word is killin' me.
