Toucan

^Our 4 admins have these as their avatars. This is the true piece of info about toucans NOT parrots!!! :D

Nice birds. Initially i also thought that the birds avatar are parrots or some sort of weird creatures but after a little chat with our admin Mr BillMorrow, i get to know that this is NOT a parrot but in fact it is a toucan. I though it is a dodo...

i can post pictures of my toco toucans..
i have had about 6, all of which have died from various causes related to debilatation, disease and mis-adventure..
its hearbreaking as toco toucans are VERY playful..
i have pics of my toucans flying the length of the main salon on my boat (when we all lived aboard) and banking to get to the galley which is where the grapes were kept..
they LOVE grapes..
what usually kills toucans it hemochromatosis (iron binding in the liver)..
keeping toco toucans is TOUGH and should be left to those who can increase the population..

OH, btw, they [censored] in large squirts as if from a hose..
(i get to say that!)
but if managed properly there is little mess..
except for one, who flew into the harbor at fells point in baltimore, when i was not aboard the boat, all died from:
old age,
avian diabetes,
avian TB,
liver parasites,
and the big killer, iron binding..

so i must appreciate toco toucans from a distance..

i will dig up photos if asked..
most are scans from film cameras, some are digital pics..
Bill Morrow, kept by parrots :parrot: & cockatoos

She was not what you would call refined,
She was not what you would call unrefined,
She was the type of person who kept a parrot.
