Best Dictation Software

#1 Post by Dead1nside » Mon Aug 21, 2006 2:25 pm

My sister who cannot type as fast as I am, wants some dictation software so she can dictate her essays. Large compatibility with Office and preferably other types of software packages is an advantage.

Does anyone know of any good ones, open source or commerical?

Thanks for any replies.

I would recommend Dragon Naturally Speaking 9. Pretty good speech recognition software. :)

No problem; there are some alternatives like this and even one I coded as a project, but it required external hardware in the form of an IBM DT3010 board and a custom A/D board, although it did give slightly higher accuracy than did the NaturallySpeaking version at the time. :)

Thanks, heh, I like the idea of your eccentric project. But my sister on the other hand might not.
