Sticky material anyone?

[Jest mode on]

Might be worth making a sticky or adding to the FAQ

Actually, this could turn out to be quite fun. It turned out to be pretty useful this time, as opposed to all the other times I wanted it to be.

This reaction has promted me not to suggest a google search here, which is pretty much standard operating procedure for me troubleshooting really weird problems anymore. Kind of a touchy deal for some.

THANK YOU! But why use google for instant results when you could just double post here and wait a while?

Now, who do you think would have guessed that without PC-cillin? It doesn't take that much thought to realize something is amiss even given it has more relevant content than other "security" sites. ;) :)

Ironic that one of the links mentions privacy concerns of Google users. Not to mention that Google, Yahoo!, and MSN have all had to give in to the PRC when it came to their use in China.

Astalavista has none of these problems; first off, it uses common techniques, which some may indeed call Spyware, to notify the user that their information may be at risk. Unlike AOL and their Little Accident when it came to user search logs, which you yourself can search for a grand old time of laughs, or Google handing data over to the government. AOL'ers always make people feel better about themselves ;) ; with Astalavista you *know* your personal information is going into the hands of the familiar spammer and 419er for a more personal business relationship that you can work out on your own and already know how to deal with. Neither do they have their own Ad service to annoy with either (they don't even have a widget engine! Very minimalist, which equals "hip" nowadays, apparently, for vague reasons).

Furthermore, it is also to be of note that Astalavista has claimed no problems whatsoever with their search activities in the PRC...Well, given the amount of users, or lackthereof rather, that use their services from there.

Thereby, they present an excellent, low cost, and non-overhyped solution to the worlds search problems. :D

For further information (and millions of dollars they need help with to extract from a bank account, of which you will have half after sending me part of the withdrawl fee), please enable browser cookies, Java, and ActiveX and peruse the site. Remember, as the 1337( the xXSUpRLEE7Xx 4EVAR type) saying goes, you don't get in contact with them, they will get in contact with you. ;) :D

back when i found that site in high school it wasn't that bad. but i wouldn't dare go there now..i guess you can't expect a virus free experience when you're up to no good.

I see fellow Wolves there, but I have never been interested in StumbleUpon that much nor do I have an account there. :D

It also boggles the mind as to how some can actually end up with malware on their systems despite a hardware firewall, two software firewalls and corporate AV systems going 24/7. Believe me, I have dealt with more than one user that has, somhow, managed to give permission to such code to run. It boggles sane minds. What is worse is when they get it to happen to them on sites like *MSN.com*.

If one is smart enough, one can actually browse any and all sites on the web *without* a firewall or and AV perfectly fine. I have done it and so have many of my friends, one of whom refuses to use any such firewall/AV software as he claims all of them slow down systems for no reason to professional operators. I have gotten, err, what I went after in certain risky situations without either getting a virus or malware or even getting a malicious port scan. To this day, I have not gotten a single piece of spyware/malware even with the firewall/AV/spycatchers off; contrast this to the ultra-paranoid average user who, despite loading their system to the point of taking 5 minutes to open Word with AVs, Anti-Spyware, and Firewalls, still manage to get a virus that renders their system unbootable simply because they wanted to download a 3D Fish Screensaver. :D

I think they are of the same contingent of users that end up like JeffK. or start asking me "HOW I MINE FOR FISH?" or "MONIES FOR A NOOB?" on some MUDs and RPGs I am on. :)

does this av/firewall free browsing on risky sites have anything to do with using opera?

Who then?

Wait, *those* people? Egads I am a *Professional* man, who are they?

I do like the one with a photo of a Wolf. I would have, however, picked something like this or this or even this.
