Thinkpad reseller near San Francisco

#1 Post by ventilo » Thu Aug 31, 2006 12:52 am

Hello,

Being for a few days in San Francisco two weeks later, I would seize this opportunity to have a look at recent Thinkpads, especially T60p and X60s, to definitely make my mind on the choice.

It would be very nice if someone could give me addresses of some resellers in the Bay area who have a showroom or at least "demonstration" machines. Resellers known to have some Thinkpads in stock might be more interesting ;)

Unfortunatly if Lenovo's website shows reseller it doesn't give any information regarding showroom.

Thank you for your help.

Best regards

Ah, so you have already seen the IBM/Lenovo Re-seller site indeed? True, they do not give an option regarding a showrooom; I don't think it is easy enough to pry that information out of the Tier class/rankings of the re-sellers (if they still list those).

The places that I can immediately recommend in the immediate, depending on how it is reasonably defined, vicinity are the TSW in Berkeley (The Scholar's Workstation) and the Stanford Bookstore down in Stanford as two great places you could go to check out and toy with a floor model of a Thinkpad. That said, I don't think you can readily purchase from them unless they have some sort of special offer to the public at large.

I would also recommend a place like Office Depot but, so far as I have seen, they only have floor models of the T43s and Z Series. Indeed, that is all the Thinkpads they also seem to sell; although things might have changed since I looked last.

BTW, Welcome to the Thinkpad Forums :)

HTH :)

Thank you for your reply.

I hoped Thinkpads would be easier to have a look at and a bit more mainstream in the United States than in France. I'll try the places who pointed out.

Best regards

Oh, I don't know about that. Even after IBM/Lenovo decided to go to retail outlets such as Office Depot with certain models it has become easier to an extent; yet not anywhere near the point of seeing the exactly specc'd model you want and then buying it. They aren't quite as prolific and common as the HPs and Sonys put out as floor models.

Although it makes it more difficult, it does tend to lend a certain air of mysticism (or professionalism depending on the profession) to such a personal/private/elite purchasing arrangement; much like purchasing high-tech military hardware. :D
