Those two are dead easy. No programming skills required. Just go to Admin Configuration settings and push the appropriate radio buttonsJHEM wrote:Now we just need to stifle animated and verbose sigs!

got the first one, where is the one to limit sigs..?hausman wrote:Those two are dead easy. No programming skills required. Just go to Admin Configuration settings and push the appropriate radio buttons

Just above Avatar settings, "Allow Signatures Yes/No " and "Maximum signature length Maximum number of characters in user signatures"morrow wrote:got the first one, where is the one to limit sigs..?

Not that I can see. One would have to write a MOD to restrict this. (Or there may already be a MOD around that does this.)nonny wrote:Is there also a button that can limit the size of a quote?
I agree. Some people will quote the entire preceding post just to respond with a Yes or No.Some of them are cascades of quotes within quotes within quotes including sigs which slows everything down considerably.
IMO this is one of the weaknesses of phpBB. Also that posts are in chronological order. If they were displayed in reverse, then you'd be able to read the latest stuff while all the history continued to load in the background. Now the whole page loads, and if most of the page is just quotes, it means I end up having to load multiple pages to see everything that's new.

I should have been clearer, Bill. The feature at the bottom is almost useless to those who want it enabled 24/7. Once you get used to viewing posts (or files in a file viewer) in reverse chronological order it becomes so natural that any other order becomes annoying. Alas the phpBB developers do not seem to have "got used" to that notion (yet.)nonny wrote:It doesn't even seem to stick for the same thread from one viewing to the next, and it's not something that can be selected from a user's profile.

Apparently not? http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=319morrow wrote:only registered users will be able to post, answer posts and edit posts.

Let me know. I've not been able to find anything on the phpBB 2.0.6 board that I runmorrow wrote:i'll look thru the admin panels later and see if i can make that change, universally..
Or just reduce the time delay. It's there to discourage malicious folks from flooding the board with posts. If that wasn't a problem with the old board then it probably won't be with this one.JHEM wrote:We also need to figure out a way that the moderators can skip the "You can't post again so soon" time limit.
