A quality music geeks here ? Need help on Eric Clapton

#1 Post by alexzabr » Tue Sep 12, 2006 1:57 am

I'm in the mood to acquire few Eric Clapton's best albums - sounds to be great idea to pass the time driving to/from work/home (a hour in each end) along with the new one from Bob Dylan..
The new Bob's album (Modern Times) sounds just as good as can be, Clapton is my favorite as well.
I'm not a music geek, do like several of the most famous songs by Clapton, but would like to make the good choice of several of his discs. My local music store has quite a stock of his albums (about 20-30 discs on the shelf at least), will not be abelt o stay there listening to all of them in order to make my choice, so asking for the help of more educated community.
I think 2-4 of his albums will be enough for now...

So, what would be your vote ?
14.1" T43 2668-6ZU machine.
ATI x300, 1GB RAM, 40 GB HDD, all the connectivity (except of Bluetooth), DVD/CD-WR Combo...
Still excited about this great machine...

"Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs" (Derek and the Dominos) is a must. "Slowhand" and "August" I guess would be the next two.

Of course, for the ultimate compilation, it has to be "Crossroads".

Good choices by Ray, add;

Cream, 1995 "The Very Best of Cream"

Live album, 1996 "Crossroads 2: Live in the Seventies" (box set)

Compilation, 1999 "Clapton Chronicles: The Best of Eric Clapton"

For acoustic E.C. the Unplugged album is worth a listen...

- One More Car, One More Rider (Live 2001 Tour). Great takes on all the classics and then some.
- From The Cradle (1994) and Sessions For Robert J. (2004) if you're into the straight-ahead blues.

Clapton...great stuff. Enjoy!

Peace,
Max

I'll second "From the Cradle" and the Robert Johnson album, and add any compilation of The Yardbirds.
