TV/cable problem- audio lags behind video
I happen to have two crappy 20" Magnavox TV's at my new apartment, so nothing else to test my cable with. Just about every show is displaying video with the audio about a second behind. It's quite a problem when you're actually trying to watch something. Does anyone have any knowledge of this type of lag when it comes to TV's and cable? Comcast is coming out this week, but I'm not really sure it's a problem with the cable. I've never had this problem with the TV before I moved to this location. Any advice would be appreciated!

It's on most channels. I do need to add that the TV with the problem has digital cable, the other does not. That would indicate to me that running through the cable box is messing something up- not that it makes it acceptable or anything, but I don't hear many complaints like this.

The problem is through the cable box. I have personally experienced a very similar issue. Hook both tvs up where you can hear them both at the same time. Put the same channel on both tvs. I bet you hear the audio coming out of the non-digital setup before you hear the digital tv audio. There is an on going issue with different cable box types. You probably have an older digital box. They might or might give you some grief, but get yourself a motorola box if you can or scientific atlantic. Whichever one they have that is newer than the other. You may have to do some research of your own to find out which ones they have. Also, you might notice that local analog channels have pretty poor quality? That also seems to be the going rate these days with digital boxes and HD boxes. They put really nice digital tuners and HD tuners in but they just "forget" about the channels still needing an analog signal. Either way its a timecode issue in the cable box, could be alot of different problems with the box, but just get a new box.

It's actually brand new and it's only about 5" x 8", so it's definitely not one of the old clunkers they used to provide. Since the cable modem (brand new) I had for two days stopped working, I guess it's just another POS from motorola. Thanks for sharing.skitty4gzus wrote:You probably have an older digital box.

There are just so many factors to try and figure out. For one provider, than region. It's too hard to say go with this or go with that, but if the motorola box is giving you problems see what else they have to pick from. 5x8" is pretty small, maybe they are trying to save space for us consumers but sacrificing quality. I know that sounds crazy but it happens!!!!
