converting video to DVD

#1 Post by mikek » Sat Oct 14, 2006 10:13 am

Hi - I've been capturing some old video using Windows MovieMaker 2, as bundled with Xp.... but the highest resolution seems to be 640x480. Anyone know how this can be increased, or do I need better s'ware (and hardware?) for this?

Thanks

M

You are pretty much at dvd resolution with 640x480:

Usually old video has a resolution of 720x480 (NTSC) or 720x576 (PAL). I would suggest using another program than WM2 because as far as I know, WM2 can't export as dvd or mpeg, wich you need for making a dvd. You can search google for software to rip your video (wich input?) to mpeg format. (keywords: capture, dv (if using dv camcorder), freeware,...)
Then to convert from an mpeg file to dvd I would suggest winavi. This is shareware but as far as I know the fastest converter out there. (it can make a dvd-folder wich you then can burn with your favourite cd burning program on dvd)
