potential new newsgroup comp.sys.laptops.thinkpad
John Navas has started the process of creating a new newsgroup comp.sys.laptops.thinkpad. I think it would be nice if this forum could be gatewayed to that group (or vice versa). It's much easier for me to read news than this forum (through no fault of the forum designers) and this I'd rather get the info that way, but would hate to lose the collective insight this community possesses.
If you are interested in contributing to the discussion on the new newsgroup, the thread is running on comp.sys.laptops (and possibly elsewhere).
Juxt something to consider.

Why reinvent the wheel? Just add ibm.ibmpc.thinkpad to your newgroups.chris_clark wrote:If you are interested in contributing to the discussion on the new newsgroup, the thread is running on comp.sys.laptops (and possibly elsewhere).

We just *need* more redundancy on the web because, you know, it can get sites that sound important and further fragmentation of information. Let's also not forget the "collective" part of all of this; generally envisioned as adding more minds to a problem, put in practice as a general risk spreading tool since nobody is individually right along with nobody being individually wrong.
What is the point with the newsgroups again? There already exist a forum (mainly this one), mailing-lists, several IRC channels, and a newsgroup for them.
It took hard work and real effort over the years to get this forum the way it is, which is way I prefer it instead of some newsgroup out there....somewhere.

I met someone who looks a lot like you.
She does the things you do.
But she is an IBM.

Well, as long as he doesn't the
, we still have the edge. In all seriousness, don't we have enough thinkpad groups already? Well, to each his own and I wish the guy the best of luck but otherwise can't say that I really give a care. I guess my opinion is neutral.

I don't think we'll be going down that road, but thanks for thinking of us. We'll leave the light on for you.chris_clark wrote:I think it would be nice if this forum could be gatewayed to that group (or vice versa).
