46-47C running the fan at 6000 rpm -- wow! My little X31 runs fanless all day around 40C in max battery mode, and around 50C in dynamic switching mode.

Given that it's the same CPUs inside them now, why do the MacBooks run so much hotter? Any ideas? (And that's even apart from the aluminium cases conducting all the heat to your lap ...)

I don't know, I would really have to get a thermodynamic FEM model of the MacBook and the X31 cooling systems to compare. Apple must have really changed something alot for things to get that hot. :|
