Yea, if I recall correctly, I saw a 250GB external 7200rpm HD for $69.99. I'm eying that HP notebook; not because I like HP or the glossy screen, but because I'm interested in the immediate turnaround sale.

Has anyone purchased one of these steep discount laptops and turned a good profit in a relatively short time? Of course, standing outside Best Buy at 5AM isn't quite in my character...

...and Miller880- it's not always about what you can afford, but what you can do to get some quick, easy...legal cash.

I remember that it's a 400GB Western Digital USB hard drive for $100. I am definitely getting that one since one of my current USB HDDs (a 160GB Western Digital) has only 1.3GB left. I will probably sell this old drive for $50.

I guess you were talking about Staples, because I just remember the Best Buy ad.

Just thinking about actually camping out at Best Buy makes me feel queasy. :P

I was going to say, I couldn't imagine using that much HD space, but I suppose if I didn't have a huge CD-R pile I would need such a thing.

I dont know how it is in your area, but the BB here opens at 5AM and to get any of the big ticket items like the TV and the cheap laptop youll need to be somewhere in front of the line. Last year I came at 3AM and there already was a good sized line, since they only have a few of them to sell.

MODERATOR EDIT: READ THIS PART CAREFULLY !

.
Please enter at least the city and/or state that is your home or current location. Earth, USA, your telephone number area code and Southern Hemisphere, while interesting and fun for you, do not respect the BBS or other users. A location shows other users what time zone you are located in and thus will facilitate a faster answer to your problem. ALSO, your location tends to build a thinkpad owners community. Any "silly" location will delay your activation and could result in your account not being activated/deactivated.
Also trim your quotes.

im guessing the line in front of staples probably wont be as long and wow it was 400 gb huh. Well in that case i will probably be waiting there. I would like to RE-import all my music at a higher bit rate and different format.

Two years ago, I got up at 6 a.m. (insanely early for me because I normally get up in the afternoon) on Black Friday and got to the Best Buy store in Seekonk MA at 7 a.m. The check-out line was so long that it filled every single aisle in the store! Of course, I didn't buy anything. Instead, I went to Circuit City and Comp USA a few blocks away where there were a hundred times fewer people, and bought some cheap CD-Rs and a $15 CD boombox.

He he, I hear ya man. Actually, if I do decide to venture to the stores on Black Friday this year, it will be an all nighter. I'll just grab a coffee from dunkins, spend the night on the forum ;-)
I might run to a few stores and pick up a few of those $400 laptops and flip them on ebay. I even saw a 36" LCD TV for $600 that is quite tempting...

If it requires so much effort, it might be easier to get a part-time job and earn the same amount of money!

That's going to be a fun two days for me. Thanksgiving night I'm going to be out until after midnight and getting up early for the sales is ... fun. I might go to WalMart's for fun. I always love justifiably hitting people with shopping carts but I'm going to park quite a ways away.

I might look at the DVD-Rs for ... backup

I do have visions of being the first in line...but once entering the store, I will be trampled by greedy people.

edit: Ha, they had to take down the Best Buy ad for legal reasons. Glad I got the early peek.

There are dozens of Black Friday sites. Google up the other ones and they will still have the Best Buy ad.
