During my daily jaunt through the dregs of eBay, I came upon this:

IBM THINK PAD

My best guess is that it's a 600E/X based upon the speaker locations, the depression around the trackpoint buttons, the front-facing Ultrabay and the brightness slider. What's really worth noting is that it has a 16" display and 2,500GB of storage!

If you look up the word Penium on Google, you will be shocked by how many people have made that typo. These people were probably thinking about a certain body part while typing.

I like the big screen too. Worth a try. I do not have a big sleeve to fit the TP though.

Geez, technology advances so fast. My hard drive on my X60S is only 100G. Even 200G will amaze me. Not to mention over 2000G.

In some cultures, a comma is used to denote a decimal. So, "2,500 GB" probably means "2.500 GB". However, if she really means 2500 GB, then she has got to be a computer god, and when she says she isn't one, she's just being humble.

It's defiantly a plain Thinkpad 600. I've never seen a computer with 2,500 GB HDD

. Who really knows what size the hard drive is. If the person can't spell Pentium correctly, then how can we trust all of the other information is correct. With only 64 megs or ram, i doubt this would be useful. I also doubt its windows 95, more like windows 98. I can't tell for sure from the screen shot, but it has the default win 98 turquoise background.

True. I'd also like to see the measuring tape she used for the screen dimension. I've tried all sorts of ways of measuring one of my 600X systems. The maximum that I can get is 15" from lid corner to lid corner. So with all of the typos, I can only conclude that she meant 15" and maybe MB instead of GB.

You see, that's exactly how one measures the size of CRT monitors. So, perhaps her description doesn't have as many errors as we thought!

Sold for US $167.50, plus around $30 - 35 shipping (I asked the seller). I hope the winner isn't expecting a 16" screen and a 2500GB HDD!

Wow, I need to figure out how to boost my 600 to those specs. I didn't realize my BIOS even supported that many gigs. I'm also at awe in how she managed to get the 2mb NeoMagic 128XD that's in the 600 to drive a 16" LCD. (I'm assuming it's a 600 and not a 600E due to the install of Windows 95; the 600Es were only available with Windows 98 or Windows NT 4.0).

Well, I definitely need to contact her. Maybe she can bring back to life my 390X that crapped it's BIOS only two hours after I took it out of the box.
