Well, you could buy an X60s because I have a spare X60s sticker without the Lenovo. My new X60 does have the Lenovo.

quality is more important than a symbol.

They still say "IBM THINKPAD" on the bottom right of the palm rest, and I believe on the top cover. At least the Widescreen T60 does.

They could call them Dell's for all I care. I just want the quality of that rectangular matte black laptop, since that is the reason I bought it... not the IBM/Lenovo sticker.

quality? right, but I don't think Lenovo did anything better on the new model, instead, warranty is dropped down to 1 year by default.

No, T60 still has a good quality design.
I am using it now. Right hand side is my new T60, Left hand side is an oldT42.
The only difference is the Fan noise( higher GPU temp). Because T60 has a bigger fan ven than T42, so even they are both running at same rpm, T60's sound is slightly noticeable. However, compared to my 7k2 hard drive, Noise from T60 is nothing.
Furthermore, Warranty is dropped down to 1 year by default, but you can buy 3 years warranty, ITS NOT A BIG DEAL!!!!!
As I have mentioned, T60 design is still good, I can feel my T60 is super firm.

Buy used. There are many other advantages of buying used anyway, e.g. cheaper, less depreciation, faster shipping than Lenovo, etc.

What´s up with Lenovo? They have the right to place their logo wherever they want. They are the brand owners. Yes my T60 has the lenovo´s logo near the right lid hinge. Sorry for you buddy, it´s your problem if you don´t buy one of these excellent machines... you´re missing a high quality piece because of a sticker!!! hey what are you thinking... think of peeling off the apple´s logo from a Power book, does it change what is inside the box? As Lenovo´s products be of high quality I will keep buying them, no matter the sticker they want to put on them....

Look these IBM/Lenvo wars are getting old (not that there's anything wrong with that) around here so this is going to off topic.

It's sad to see the IBM name leave the thinkpad, but to be honest, I think Lenovo is doing an excellent job. I saw a 3000 n100 at Microcenter a while back, and if I wanted to buy a consumer grade computer like an HP, I would defiantly go for the Lenovo. It has a Thinkpad keyboard (there was an R52 next to it, so I know it is the same keyboard). The titanium lid was also a nice touch to this consumer laptop, gave it a more clean look. But for my next new laptop buy, I'm either looking at a Macbook, or a widescreen T60. The price will be the deciding factor when I do buy.
I have finally rejoined the dark side.

Leave? The IBM/ThinkPad branding can be used by Lenovo for another 5 years...at which point I think they will either try their own thing or possibly continue with it. :)

Yes "IBM" is still there but it does seem like Lenovo is phasing it out gradually. Lenovo stickers will increase in prominence while IBM stickers may eventually disappear. My X60s's AC adapter shows only "Lenovo" but not "IBM.

We are talking about the new widescreen T60. See some photos here.

I'm still trying to figure out why it would suck having a Lenovo symbol/sticker on the laptop. I haven't received mine yet, but, from what I've read, it's a quality product. I've done a lot of research, and this is my system of choice. Hey, it's just a sticker - peal it off if you need to pose or don't like it. Oh, hey all ! - this is my second post. Proud to be a soon T60p owner :)

It's purely psychological.
