PW, I had been meaning to post this as well but you beat me to it.

For me it was kind of a surreal experience to find that out after so many months later. If I had known at the time, I would have joined you for the lunch in China Town that day.

Well, we are finally home from our west coast experience, I am finally recovered from my jet lag!

I got to meet our infamous Mr. Ray and what a grand experience it was. We had an all too short coffee meeting at our hotel, DH got to shake the hand of the man that built his laptop. We had a lovely fireplace going.

I can't believe how much talking we crammed into 2 hours, Ray you are a wonder! It was only fitting that we saw a gentleman on the next couch using a Thinkpad

Well, we have finally settled in on Mt. Cobb in Lake Ariel, PA 18436.
We bought the house (3BR ranch on 2 acres) on Sept. 28, and our household goods from Ireland were delivered on October 2.
So far we got Cingular cells, Verizon home-phone and DSL, and Adams Cable will be installed next Tuesday.
I only got DSL today, hence my absence from the forums for the last 10 days or so.
(The motel we stayed in up till then had wi-fi for its guests available).
We really enjoyed those 80+ days in September and October, and of course got inundated by the deluge from 10/11.
Our location is perfect, 10 minutes from Hamlin, 15 minutes from Scranton, Moscow, Wilkes-Barre etc.
Our youngest gets picked up by the school bus (she goes to North Pocono High School in Moscow, she is a straight-A student).

This is a bit off-topic for the thread-subject, but a continuation of previous postings.
Lovely day for a Guinness! (The Real Black Stuff)

The only member I've met so far was AllTPedOut also known as Samson, and he's one very, very nice guy.

I have been close. In September, 1994 I went to Stephenville and Corner Brook. I enjoyed my time there. Friendly people.

It was great meeting ajkula66 in NYC. We spent a good part of an hour talking and I'm glad we were able to meet in person to conduct our trade. George is a pretty cool guy!

I'm actually suppose to meet up with PW, but it seems our schedules are completely out of whack! But I'm sure we'll figure something out before he makes his way back to RI.

It's funny how small the world can be with a venue like this forum where you "meet" a lot of people, but at the same time it's still amazing when you actually meet people in person!

If you mean weather-wise: I used to live on Grouse Mountain in North Vancouver/Canada. They get at least as much snow as in PA.
I also lived in Switzerland for nearly 25 years, and had plenty of snow there...
In Ireland you can get all four seasons in one single day , so can't really see what's so rude...

Oh thank you for these, they are just incredible! So exactly how does an oil rig get repaired, it is monstrous?

So, do you get to stare out at these icebergs all day, were these taken from your home or work place?

Also, what season were these taken in, and do the seasons affect these icebergs?

I just came back from Tom's Restaurant (famous due to its frequent appearances in the Seinfeld sitcom) where I had lunch with AllTPedOut. We had a good time. I showed him my 14.1" UXGA T42, and he told me about his dozen Thinkpads. Too bad ajkula66 was unable to join us. I hope that all three of us can get together the next time I am in NYC.

Samson, promise me that you'll let me pay next time, okay?

It was a fun meeting with pianowizard and discussing our addiction to Thinkpads. His T42 was absolutely gorgeous and I can see why there is such a high interest in hi res lcds. Hmmm, time to upgrade, but what to do with all these machines????

PW, it was really nothing considering it was a quick bite for the both of us!

Thanks for taking time out to meet up!

As discussed in this thread, Johan et al. organized a gathering in Manhattan. Five of us got together on May 6th to have lunch at a Cuban restaurant, and I took these photos right afterward:

Great pictures! They add a new dimension to the forum.

I've met several forum members for local transactions, buying and selling, in D.C. I guess that's one of the benefits of living in a city.

Sorry I didn't try to meet up with you guys in NY, I occasionally travel there on business.

I like guessing games  I know that you've taken the spot of the longer haired gentleman in the 2nd pic, Kwoon, but from that other thread, I'm struggling to figure out exactly who would have been there besides Johan, George and Brad. FWIW, I'm guessing that Johan's the longer haired gentleman, George's the taller guy up the back, and Brad's modelling the Hawaiian shirt. Which means that the fellow on the left is a mystery...

Well, flip the two Europeans around and you have the correct lineup...

Now, how about guessing which ThinkPad is over Brad's shoulder?

Hint: it's NOT in his signature...

... flip the (2) Europeans around...so it's;
In the first photo, from left to right - Samson, Brad, Johan, George
In the second Photo from left to right - Samson, Brad, Johan, Kwoon

Hard to guess on Brads Thinkpad because all you see is the strap. So that means that the strap itself is a clue....Hmmm. From what can be seen of the case, it's tiny. So my guess is an S10.

I recall seeing US pastor Rick Warren dressed in a similar sort of shirt on a website and jokingly called him Hawaiian Rick. That's why I saw the floral pattern and thought Hawaiian. :) No idea though on the laptop's identity...maybe a Z61m?

Revisiting an old thread here...

Met with dr_st in NYC last week and we had a great talk over some Starbucks about everything and anything, ThinkPads included, but not limited to... :)

Looking forward to continuation of this episode in the near future....
