Xbox 360 and NAT port triggering problems, any help???

I just bought a Netgear wgt624 router and its "supposed" to be xbox live "compatible" but the NAT settings on the console connection test come back as strict. Im supposed to open up ports on the router but Im not sure if Im doing it right. actually im pretty sure im doing it wrong. i opened or thought i opened up the 2 ports but i dont think i actually opened them up. on the router setup there are fields to select the type of port and the trigger and everything, but than there is a place where you have to designate the inbound triggering? confusing as i'll get out. any help would be great.
